after the california deal opened up, the primary frame at the velodrome in milano evolved in to the 'prestige'. unlike its predecessor, it had all investment cast parts and plug-in bridges. cable routing and braze-on selections were also modernized. but it was a traditional frame. the '3V' was an oversize tubed frame on which the lugs were internally fitted as opposed to fitting over the tube ends. the tubing was also heat treated and straight guage. the first '3V' i saw was in milano un 79. it was in protoype form, it had the soo-to-be-ubiquitous* lug lips filed off, making it appear lugless. the production '3V's didn't have this treatment. that prototype frame was on display and painted/decaled as a 'prestige'. a year or so later, they were all labeled as '3V' frames. e-RICHIE go uconn women * i kinda' wanted to use 'ubiquitous' in a sentence...
