"Prestige" is similar to "Gran Criterium" and both are a continuation of Masi's (the father's) frame building heritage. The GC was introduced in 1970, and the Prestige circa 1978. Or so I think.

What does seem clear from my reading around online is that 3V is newer -- part of Volumetrica series that started in 1984:

3V's are distinguished by steel frames using slightly "oversized" tubes that are thinner than usual, and strengthened by internal lugs. Apparently 3Vs are considered superior (lighter, stiffer) and more valuable than Prestige & GCs. I may have also read somewhere that the earliest 3Vs had problems (the internal lugs causing tubes to brake?).

The CR list has some real Masi experts, including some with first hand knowledge; and I'm just a newbie who reads (or misreads!) their webpages. Here's another:

which summarizes the 3 distinct lineages of Masi:

Italian (father -- historic Masis) California (rightful licensee of Masi name in US) Italian (labeled Alberto or Milano)

and one more:

My impression is the 3v represents either the elder Masi's last innovation, or Alberto's break-away from the family tradition. But anyway, it's different (new, lighter, more modern) that the Prestige.
