"investment cast parts"? as distinct from custom-made by Masi himself?
did the Gran Criterium evolve into the Prestige?

My question resulted from an incautious look at the pictures posted earlier.
I mistakenly didn't see the lugs and the painted highlights in the lug cut
outs and though it looked like the 3V internal lugs. After a careful look,
the traditional style lugs and later style "flat" investment cast brake and
chainstay bridges became apparent. Faliero used multi piece, tubular bridges
with reinforcements on the "GCs" and earlier "Specials". The later style
pieces used on the Prestige were less work and sped up production for many
builders but lacked the elegance and the surface area contact of the earlier
tubular pieces. At least Alberto used a chainstay bridge, some makers
eliminated it entirely which may not matter on a small frame, but in my
experience matters greatly on a frame my size (61-62cm). Frame building is
essentially "joinery".
I have a 3V with the aluminum fork and I would like to find a steel fork for
it. My head tube is 190mm so I need a 230 steerer tube. Anybody know where
one is?
