This is a little odd but I think it is of interest to all of us, so I will tell you all about this......
I have been contacted, through the CR web site, by a retired gentleman named Ed Lister in Santa Barbara. He bought a Reg Harris bicycle new in the mid 1970s in the UK (his original home) and now has it for sale.
Mr. Lister says it is all original, as purchased but the tires are shot through age and it has some patina from hanging 20 years in his garage. From what I can gather this is the earliest version of the Trusty made Lambert/Viking/ Harris bikes, this one being the model Grand Prix, and is fully lugged not filet brazed as in later Lamberts and Viscounts. It still has the aluminum forks and likely not the later sealed bearing hubs and bb except in the pedals. The size is 24" frame seat tube (c to t) with 27 " wheels. It should be similar to the Lambert I have published in the CR page for Lamberts, except for decals. He is aware he needs to take some pictures but had not done so as of our last chat...
Mr. Lister wants $125.00 plus the shipping and boxing charges which he can arrange with a local bike shop there in Santa Barbara. Or Californians could theoretically pick the bike up from him at his home. where he is available during the days by phone at 805-963-1089.
Needless to say, I have not seen this bike and cannot make assurances but I have good vibes on the gentleman who is selling.
