Hi all ! I am a newbie to this list and to vintage bikes. I have been advised that newbies traditionally introduce themselves by cycling interests, professional life, and most importantly their bikes, so here goes:

From: Mark Cutrufelli [rena.cutrufelli@comcast.net]

First I want to thank some list members who helped me before I joined : Sheldon Brown for your recent advice to me on Campy SR cranks and infrequent breakage, Richard Sachs for advice on paint, and most of all Jill DiMauro who has encouraged me in my quest for a vintage bike, patiently answered all my questions and bailed me out of repairs that exceeded my ability or comfort level.

I am a 51 year old regulatory food safety microbiologist who is a cardiac patient that had an angioplasty and subsequent bipass over a year ago. The few remaining cardiac problems might resolve from exercise- providing a perfect excuse (with encouragement from the good doctor) for wanting a vintage bike\u2026. So\u2026 I've been fixing up an 1983 yellow Masi GC (Carlsbad, CA made) bought recently on EBAY from a list member. Most of it is SR equipped, Cinelli track bars ("appropriate cause it's a Crit bike" says everyone; but maybe not original?) I punted on replacing the brake lever hoods using Dia Compe-they don't tear easily, but those Campy reproductions sure tempt me now! Still struggling a bit with the riding but the coordination is returning. ( So I can wait for the SR or Superleggeri pedals.) Previous lightweights I have owned include a Shogun 600, and a 70's Astra (rebadged lower end but fun French or Belgium- made Motobecane, isn't it Sheldon?) . So there you have it-

Best Regards- Mark Cutrufelli, Laurel, Maryland
