Subject: [CR]Introduction Faux Pas

Hi, my name is Don Ferris, nice to meet you. I've been lurking for some time now. I apologize for not introducing myself before spouting off.

I think it was David Bohm who turned me on to the list but I had met Dale and a couple of other list members the first time in '98 or '99 at Velo Swap in Denver when they had taken an interest in some of my wares and I continue to see them a couple times each year at various cycling functions. I wasn't really into "collecting" classic bikes, I just appreciated them in some undefined sense; I liked the way they looked and the elegant simplicity of some designs. As I've gotten older, my appreciation has deepened and while I still don't classify myself as a collector and have very little knowledge of classic bike specifics, I learn more each day from the list and I frequently experience classic bike lust.

I've had a number of classic frames pass through my hands. I currently own a '62 Paramount track bike that desperately needs restoration (it'll have to wait for winter) and a 50's/60's Bianchi with the integrated headset that is currently being repainted after a lot of work repairing/prepping the frame & fork (still looking for the proper graphics if anyone can help). When finished, I'll build it up as a fixed gear with nutted hubs. :) Other interests: I have a fetish for high flange hubs which I have a number of and though not on topic for this list, I also appreciate and own a few of the seminal mountain bike designs. If anyone has an "H.E.G. Ferris" (see http://www.classicrendezvous.com/British/Ferris.htm - no relation that I'm aware of) frame/bike available, please contact me.

Professionally, I work in the bike world and somehow still manage to make the mortgage payment and keep the kids clothed.

Cheers! Don Ferris Littleton, Colorado mailing address but really live in rural Douglas County on Highline Canal behind Chatfield Reservoir.
