I was struck that the fans used the word "win" quite a bit when painting their favorites' names on the road; e.g. "Win Sarroni" or "Win Moser". Also, near the end of the trip, we went on a large group ride in Pisa, organized by the Touring Club Italiano. I was even more surprised by that one, as the club is a large nation-wide organization.
