'a.picchio' was one of the dozens of artisanally made frames that didn't get much airplay outside of their own county. he was one of the first builders to use the 'dented and pierced' tubes and stays in the early 80s. this feature was a short lived phenomenon that came in during the aero-era; it was another place on the frame that a guy could point to and say, ''yeah, it makes the bike stiffer.'' in 1981, we, (me/mike/larry), were at picchio's workshop and it truly was a one man operation with minimal, but excellant tooling. i think he had two assistants. many of his frames used dubois lugs; as such, i thought he was a demi-god. e-RICHIE shallow
p.s. many of his frames were painted silver, with some blue and black highlights. he told me that the colors represented the colors of his village's flag, or similar.
