two days ago i expressed my thoughts about mike richardson in a post-cirque email to the list.

here is a short 'anecdote'. i wrestle with whether it is too trite, but i'll send it along and take my licks.

as some of you may recall from my mail leading up to the cirque, i noted that the n.o.s. clement seta tubular on the rear wheel of one of my two, (yes, TWO), restored masi bicycles would no longer hold air for more than half a day. i invited listmembers to make appointments with me to have their picture taken with the bicycle at every hour on the hour. that was just me having fun. the part about the tire is true though.

well... on saturday, mike richardson was helping me to set up my display of bicycles for the p.m. presentation and took it upon himself to grab the silca floor pump and have a go at all the wheels. i didn't ask for help, and he didn't ask for something to do. it was set-up time and we were like the roadies moving the set around waiting for the band. i noticed that he was kinda' aggressive with the pump and i was concerned that he was inflting the wheels to 'race' pressure rather than to put in enough air just to give the tires some shape. i didn't have the 'nerve' to ask him to taper because he was trying to help. i watched in fear as he got to the masi wheels and just expected the worse-a blowout. to my surprise, he finished the task, and upon his moving on to something else, i quickly checked my poor old tires! to my surprise they were rock hard. at day's end they were rock hard. and today, 5 days later, they remain rock hard, fully inflated.

thanks for reading.
