I note that this debate has died down a bit lately and it had just about
run its course but surely the basic arguments have merit in other
circumstances.I have a Bertoni frame. After enquiring on this list I have
discovered that Bertoni frames were designed by Univega and built in the
Reparto Corse factory by Bianchi. While the frame may carry the name Bertoni
on the down tube,it could, depending on what argument you might support be
either a Univega or a Bianchi. It seems to me that many people should give
up any idea about owning an Italian masterpiece and concentrate on
comparatively unknown frames built by one man shops run by frame building
craftsmen.Success can be measured in many different ways and if we take the
worlds measure then we should not be disappointed to find that the name on
the frame may not bear any relation to the hands that built it.That is my
two cents worth
Geoff.
