okay bill. let me try to rephrase my point from yesterday. do you think that someone racing in a professional arena, local hobby racing notwithstanding... do you think that this someone would have a liability in a race if all around him were on 2002 equipment and he was on 70s equipment? i think he would. do you?

btw, i'm trying to take the high road here. i love all the classic bicycles and equipment that are pertinent to the CR timeline. i appreciate it immensely. i get inspiration from reading about it and pursuing it as a hobby. but i race on the modern stuff for the reasons stated all day thursday.

i can't quantify all this so that it fits into a nice neat little bar graph. perhaps i should just have said, "if 30 year old parts are good, then 60 year old parts are better."
