The arm is cracked, but by most people's standards that is a sub-microscopic and completely insignificant blemish, not a crack. Palettis are made in a bike shop outside of Marenello, not far from the Ferrari factory. I stumbled upon this shop two years ago during a visit to Italy. The frame production side was shut down for the season while the staff tended to the retail shop. I guess they keep busy in the winter by building bikes. They had pretty modern looking equipment and I'd speculate that they built a pretty decent number of frames... not small volume like Sachs, Baylis, etc. I only had a quick look at the auction, but the bike in question has some pretty hoakie looking decals. I have to wonder if they are home-made replacements applied after a repaint. Who knows, it may not even be a Paletti at all. I'll have another look "Martin O.
