OK, my "knowledge" comes mainly from the descriptions and claims in eBay auctions (dubious grounds I admit), of what sellers claimed were '58 cranks. I seem to remember that a few people (Ken Toda and Ken Denny, maybe others) have also claimed that by '59 the dustcaps at the back of the pedal hole were gone. Does that sound wrong to you Mike? I think Ken Toda said the spider relieved in back like a Stronglight persisted to the '60 model

I know there was a transition crank with raised platform around the front of the pedal hole, but newer style spider, because I have one. So we may have to revise how we name the "generations" to something like:

1st - '58 only? - pedal dustcaps, relieved spider, pedal lip. 2nd - '59-60?? - no pedal dustcaps, yes relieved spider and pedal lip. 3rd - '60-'61? - no pedal dustcaps or relieved spider, yes pedal lip. 4th - '62-'68? - pedal lip disappears, the commonest 151 crank

Am I getting warmer?

Ken Denny pointed out that there may not be a simple timeline; that cranks with a relieved spider but no pedal lip may have been made, followed by cranks with the newer spider, but back to the raised pedal lip. And Ken Toda theorizes that the pedal lip may have persisted longer in the Pista crank after it was gone from the Strada.
