Well, things warmed up alittle over the last few days!

I just wanted to make a small point, in my last message re tubing type/gauge/ and tyre sizes, I did not intend to give the impression that tyre size is the only or even the over riding effect on a bicycles ride. As Mike Kone eluded, a bicycle is a complex mix of many elements, at the heart of which is the frame. Change the tyres and your Bates is still your Bates! Spring, stiffness, material, joining methods, geometry, component selection are all things which we can vary to hopefully arrive at the ride we want. (I want one that always wins, but have not found it yet!) If we are lucky, we can make it look nice as well. Sorry if I am teaching people to suck eggs here, I am also just seeking to clarify my stance on this.

About the Granby: For sale, a Granby frame and forks. Nice hand cut lugs, well filed, with a nice double fleur de leys on the heatube. The lugs have been fillet brazed over to give a smoothed out "french" look. Also the fame has unusual "round-square-round" section chainstays. 59cm C-T seat tube, 59cm C-C top tube. Painted black, not original, with gold lug lining. No transfers, although I will supply a set of "Granby" DT transfers with the frame. Period headset and BB are fitted. $400 including airmail.
