> Are you talking about Proteus Bikes in College > Park, MD or was there one in Colorado? Mark, I'm referring to the shop in College Park, Maryland. I haven't been there in years but you might want to take a look at http://www.classicrendezvous.com/USA/Proteus.htm Mr. Yamaguchi worked there before setting up his own frame building business in Colorado. He was the last of the really good frame builders working at Proteus. He may have been the last frame builder there, period! I'm not certain of that but they did stop selling their own custom frames around the time he left. I don't know how many of their bikes were sold to people outside of the DC-Baltimore area but they had something of a national reputation based on their frame building classes, a Do-It-Yourself frame building manual and frame building kits that they advertised nationally. They were also semi-famous (in DC and Baltimore anyway) for a pin tool that was produced for them by a local machinist. This was before Park made them, so the only alternative seemed to be VAR which was much more expensive. If someone has a source for replacement pin to fit this tool, please let me know. Best regards, Fred Rednor - Arlington, Virginia
