word from japan is that the next issue of "new cycling" magazine will be featuring pics and articles of some 53 rene herse's (thats close to 1/4 of all the know complete herse's in Japan).
ive seen some pics of a few and they are quite something indeed. if anyone is keen i can provide a contact for getting the magazine but as the publication run is very small however it will cost something in the vicinty of 7000yen (yep thats $56+).
also noted from one ebayer from japan repro frame tube decals fetch almost as much as originals on ebay - it aint easy. the same ebayer also had to set back plans for his wedding to a year later as assembling a few important parts for a restoration ate up almost all of his wedding budget. another moved 2 hours commute away (each way) from his place of work just to have a little more room to house his bikes and work on them - he has 1 day a week to actually ride them (yes he rides all 4) weather permitting and he cant afford a car.
so while some may lament their "deep pockets" i would counter that they are prepared to sacrifice many other things for their 2 wheel passions.
