... but it's still kinda cool. Tonight I bought back a bike I'd sold a couple of years ago - a 1972 Peugeot AE-18, the basic A0-8 bike boom special with full fenders, generator, lights and rear rack. It even has the funky Simplex chainguard that attaches to the front derailleur mounts. This is one I had found back in '97 up in Woodruff, SC. Interesting oddity - 700C wheels, which one doesn't expect to find on bike boom machines. Probably somebody's European vacation bring-back.

At any rate, after drooling over assorted Herses and Singers and their modern reproductions from Mariposa and Toei, I have a new appreciation for this yellow bike. I suppose I'll have to get one of those little T.A. mini-racks that fit onto Mafacs and some sort of handlebar bag to complete the look. From 100 yards away, it MIGHT pass from some of the classier French iron, right?

I know - someday I'll get lucky and find something really cool, old and French in a rando kinda bike at a price I can stand. I can dream, can't I?
