In the interest of evoking the good old days in more ways than toe-clips and original paint, I invite anyone here who's interested on a challenging SoCal vintage ride in July.

Chicken-*&^% liability statement here: this is *not* an organized ride, not sponsored by anyone, and not led by me! I will merely show up at the start and anyone who comes along is welcome. As with the monthly Pasadena vintage ride this is, however, a no-route-slip, no-drop ride.

Tentative starting point is the bridge over Ballona Creek at Marina del Rey in West Los Angeles. The route follows the beach bike path from MdR to Palos Verdes Drive. I'll ride up PV Drive, around the Peninsula, all the way to PV Drive East. Up PV Drive East, in a ragged loop, back to the beach bike path, and back to MdR. The ride is approximately 40 miles, give-or-take a few. PV Drive East is a very tough hill.

However, the scenery is very pretty, and worth the work, for those who haven't done this before.

Two provisos only: A) vintage italian iron only and B) drivetrains may have nothing bigger than a 26 in the rear and nothing smaller than a 42 in front. You can, of course, ride whatever you like, but I'm trying to duplicate those great masher days...ok? Ok.

Sunday, July 21, 11am sharp. I'm still mulling over the start point. Parking is, of course, a major issue in West Los Angeles.

I hope some San Diego listers can make it.

E-mail me if you have more questions. I'll nail down the starting point in the next week or so.

Thanks.
