Hello all,

Im listing my last loose bits and pieces on ebay and that which im too embarassed to list or offer for sale ill giveaway in a special contest. :-)

First ebay - all items are listed with no reserve and for $1 :-

Front wheel - Legnano high flange hub, 36 holes, laced to a Fiamme tubular rim. Good working condition - true - could use a repack and grease. Nice wheel (did Legnano make their own hubs?).

Cinelli quill stem with Cinelli "priest" bar - modern logo on both. Stem is 9cm in length and bars are something ive never seen the like of. Matching 26.4 diameter. Unusual.

Peugeot T-shirt with a copy of the race jersey motiff. Fits somewhere like a med-large. New. Cool.

To view the items http://ebay.com/<blah> pe&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=25

or check under my ebay seller ID - bigdupe

Thats it for ebay - the cupboards now bare :-)

Now the contest details (drumroll please).

The one and only Grand Prize goes to the ugliest, most unusual, barely working bike you have. Yes something you love but for one reason or another dont get a chance to show it here. Its time for the beaters to be seen and appreciated instead of the humdrum museum pieces that are always posted.

It has to be used somewhat often (cant be a dumped bicycle but can be dumpy) and be classic (within this list's cut off period). All submissions/admissions are to be posted here on the CR list as links under your real name and judging ends on Sunday evening (12 midnight eastern).

Im looking for ugly colors, lots of rust, hideous design, faulty equipment and general neglect. Bonus points for submissions from people within the industry (builders, store owners, painters, restorers, sellers of Classic things). A shot with the owner on the bicycle or in frame is high up there in merit. If its genuinely listed for sale on ebay then its gonna be hard to top that. **** It must be yours !! **** and you must explain why you love it so and are proud to show it to the world.

Have faith .... Sheldon Brown is not necesarily a shoe-in. Anyone can enter but only one entry per person. You needn't be a bidder on my auctions (but it may help). If im having trouble deciding the best/worst example i may ask Dale for an e-pinion but keep in mind the competition is also open to him as well (politics is what it is). My decision is final !!!!!!!!

The Prizes ******** Winner takes all *******

1 x pair of new Modolo brake hoods. Not matching colors - one is red and the other is bubblegum pink. fresh and supple. I have it on good authority that these are genuine items and not repro's but one can never be sure in the topsy turvy vintage bike world.

1 x new Campagnolo cable clip/clamp. Yes ... with nut and bolt.

1 x Campagnolo Nuovo Record Patent '73 rear derailleur - well.... its more of a paper weight...... Its missing the main bolt (for attachment), has a crack right next to the patent 73 stamp, is missing one pulley, and has one of the cages cracked. Apart from that its amazing it wasnt submitted for sale to perhaps sneak into the Nose Bleed Record High categories from ebay. It has a certain something as well as a beauty of its own and is offered with patina intact. I dont have the original purchase receipt but im sure it could be replaced under warranty if you are on good terms with your local Campy Rep. (e-richie?)

All will be shipped free of charge to the winner (at the cheapest and slowest possible rate) and the prize is non refundable and non negotiable. What the winner does with them is their business but it would be a good sporting gesture were the parts to be used on the bike that won them ..... uh ... that is assuming the bike has brakes and gears....

If you think this reads too good to be true then see with your own eyes http://idisk.mac.com/benkamen/Public//giveaway/contest.jpg

The coolest/crappiest ride wins. Let the games begin.

Thanks

ciao, Ben (not a lot of class but that gets me places) Kamen - aka "spirito"

p.s. perhaps we could send to the winner all our unwanted "treasures" ??? (please - no used socks or shorts - have some respect)
