Did you get and answer on this? If not, the answer is "nothing." The NR (really just R) is a chromed steel cage pedal, the SL is anodized aluminum. If you want light, go with the SL. If you want durable (as in a cage that will stand up to alloy cleats) go for the Record. The quality is the same. Same guts. Oh yeah, older Records had steel caps, but the later ones used the plastic SL cap. SL pedal: 1971 -- Catalog #16 Supplement is printed in November for the year-end trade shows. Included are the Superleggero pedals with black anodized aluminum cages, Superleggero seat post (no flutting, thinner wall, aluminum support cradle, drilled pivot, originally with engraved graduated scale), and plastic Superleggeri pumphead are introduced. Also the patented toothed washer (rondella dentata) for the Record sidepull brakes, along with the steel Gran Turismo rear derailleur, Velox low-cost derailleur, Elefante control lever, the steel three-pin Sport cotterless crankset and allen seatbinder bolt.
