Although there are cases where Campy has been inconsistent on this point (same headset sometimes marked Record sometimes Nuovo Record), the two pedals in question are (almost?) always marked as Pedali Record (steel) and Pedali Record Superleggeri (alloy). In our hearts we all consider the Record part of the NR group. Campy did. I don't think there was ever an offical renaming of the loop-less pedal to NR, and no such distinction was made by the people who used the stuff. Also, I'll go out on a limb and say that most listmembers would associate the alloy pedal with SR-equipped bikes, even if the box was yellow. Back in the day the vast majority of SR-equipped bikes were "reduced" to include SL pedals and NR bb's in lieu of the expensive titanium offerings. All SR groups would include at least one yellow box, for the hubs, and generally had yellow boxes for the HS and BB as well.

Who cares? Well, it is all nitpicking, but I do find it funny how many hubs, shifters, BB's, and pedals turn up on Ebay listed as SR even though they are record, Nuovo Record or Record SL. Surely some sellers don't know the difference, particularly once the packaging is gone, but I suspect others are just taking liberties. I don't envy the guy who sees real SR pedals sell for $250 dollars and bid a similar amount the next week on a misrepresented set of SLs. I'm not sure if you'd had all the answers you'd like already, but semantics aside, I believe there to be 2 versions of the nouvo record pedals. The late sixties 'record' pedal has a loop in the cage for the toe-strap, (see http://ebay.com/<blah>

&item=2118663273) but there is a later steel cage version of this pedal that doesn't have this loop, which should be considered the "nouvo" version.

But really both the newer steel cage version, and the SL black alloy version with steel axle are nouvo record. I have a pair of both, and they came in the pale yellow box, like the rest of the nouvo stuff, unlike the super record ti axle version which came in a blue box.
