Can any one answer me this?

and it is true, not a rumour. Why would a top pro team (division one) be putting a steel tube inside the aluminium seat tube of their stock race frames? This is not a rumour but a fact, as a colleague and trusted friend of mine, very knowledgeable and experienced in frame building saw it happening. He did not know why and a language barrier prevent a clear explanation, he did wonder if it was a weight issue, in that they needed to lift the weight to UCI minimum's, but to me that seems unlikely.

This is not an attempt to dis. aluminium frames, I have nothing against them (really) and I use one to race one, but it was a revelation to me to hear that this was going on. Please do not ask me how the tube was being fixed in, bonded or otherwise.

If anyone knows more please tell.
