With these bicycles, were the cups actually part of the lugs or were they separate pieces that were simply brazed in place? In either case, wasn't there a danger of reducing the hardness of the cups due to excessive heat during during the brazing process? Or am I misunderstaning the design entirely. I.e. were there separate, machined races that were pressed into the integral cups? I believe this is how it's done with the best of the modern designs.
