Witcomb USA in East Haddam in the early 70s, a certain redhead, (Chris Chance), was looking for an inroad into the framemaking world. After several interviews he was given a job. And just as we had endured when we began, Chris started on the menial framemaking tasks and was eventually taught to use the torches and files.

At that point in time, Witcomb USA had a decent business and following, but in truth, Peter and I were still more new than experienced. Our frames stayed together but we really only knew enough to keep us out of harm's way!

These were our nascent years and fortunately for many, Chris took the information he learned at Witcomb USA and parlayed it. This was one instance in which it could be argued that it was better that the apple actually did fall far from the tree.
