I've gotten a nice set of GB Coureur Plus calipers for my 1974 Jack Taylor path racer (thank you Chris for the brakes). This project bike is a curved seat tube fixed gear bike with brake mounts front and rear, all fillet brazed with Chater Lea track ends and a really old fashioned fork crown. I'm trying to set this bike up with '50's, '60's type components. These brakes are gonna look good on this frame.
However, I've found that the diameter of the brake centerbolt is larger than the standard that the brake mounting holes were drilled, 1/4" vs. 6 mm. My question is: Will reaming out the brake holes to fit be a problem in the future if I go back to the metric standard? As it is, I'm widening the old Atom front and SA ASC rear hubs somewhat and cold setting the frame for the difference. I'm appealing to the frame experts on this list for opinions.
