I too remember that time well! This simple fact financed three trips to Europe! I would fly over to Europe with a new custom-made Marinoni frame and a full complement of boxed junked bicycle parts and then outfit it with the newest Campagnolo parts, ride it for a year and then sell it at a profit. Two friends tried to do the same thing. One by simply buying frame and components over in Europe. He was made to pay duty and a heavy fine for breach of the customs legislation when he didn't claim the bike upon his arrival. The other ended up wasting more than half of his cycling vacation waiting for a shop to get his bike assembled...
