Look up the word 'sliding' in the English/Italian dictionary found in the OMAS offices at the time and I am certain that you will find out the true meaning that they wanted to impart. 'Scorrevole' is likely the Italian word that they wanted to translate: it means 'smooth running.' So my guess is that they wanted to name it Gran Scorrevole or the equivalent of Big Smoothy. Perhaps Big Sliding isn't that bad!
