Ummm ... Armstrong finished 3rd on the Ventoux.

Yeah ... and they said the same thing about Bob Varsha last year (who really did a commendable job, IMHO), about Adrian Karsten in the ESPN years, about Sam Posey and John Tesh in years past, about Gary Imlach in the UK on the ITV coverage (Phil/Paul), and about David Duffield on Eurosport.
We love Bob Roll's craziness but we hate Bob Roll's wordiness. We hate Frankie Andreu's hair and that he talks too fast, we hated Davis Phinney because he talked to slow. We hated Brian Drebber. We hated Peter Graves (no, not the Mission Impossible Peter Graves)
Face it. The only commentator cyclists like is Phil Liggett (who is completely past it, and needs to retire ASAP) and Paul Sherwen (who should shove Phil aside and take over the lead chair).
Blah blah blah.
If you don't like it, turn the volume down. Of course, you might miss the senile one's commentary, but you gotta take your chances.
