Hi Dale

Apart from sif bronze welded (lugless) and a few plainer ones Les Ephgrave built most of his frames using either of two lug styles, namely No.1 lug or No.2 lug - Not for him fancy Latin names. His top frame the No.1 had his signiture trade mark the "stick" on the top eye from 1948 when he started building in his own name until about 1956/7 when he added a small disc to form the "lollipop". These discs were actually the waste metal from stampings he pressed out when making display stands for packets of tea. At this time many small framebuilders supplemented their incomes by diversifying. The "lollipops" survived until about 1966 when he built his last frames. His total frame build during 18 years was just short of 4000 but unfortunately no build records survive so dating of frames is from information received from V-CC members registering their frames with the marque enthusiast.
