I enjoyed a couple of hours with Shel in Salinas this afternoon. Delightful discussion about bicycles. A couple of turns of the allen wrenches and some Kentucky windage on the wheels and he is ready for the road. Interestingly, this Woodrup has Record 120mm hubs and nutted very early DuraAce brakes, but the rear dropouts were spread to at least 126 or 130mm. The 700 front rim and 27" rear was also interesting but I suspect a single tube in the spare bag will take care of either one of them. All he needs now is some touch up paint, then a good waxing and he'll be riding in John Steinbeck country. Always enjoyable to visit a CR member in his home and the liquid refreshment was very welcome in the sunny valley. Looking at the steep hills around here makes me glad I live in Florida!!!
