Bob,

These path racers interest me because I have a Viking bike that appears to be from about the fifties, though dating it is only a guess. It has rear track drop-outs, or drop-outs with the openings to the back of the bike. It, however, also has fender mounts--eyelets for mounting fenders on the front and rear, and the front is drilled for accepting a front brake and shows evidence of having brakes mounted on it, while the rear stays have a brake bridge without any evidence of having brakes mounted.

This was sold to me as a "pursuit" bike. On the toptube, there is a decal that reads "The Pursuit Model."

My point in all of this is to ask whether "pursuit" had specific meaning related to "path racers," or it was Viking's proprietary term for this model.

Thank you.

Cheers.

Tom

Whether anyone turned up in 1950, and stripped off their lights,
