Not to get into bike tech stuff but a tapered roller bearing requires extremely precise alignment of all surfaces. So a Stronglight is not for every bike. And the Selbach approach required real machinists (toolmakers). As to Chris King v. Stronglight the King never needs to be regreased. I have a Stronglight Delta on my "real" track bike and I laugh at myself because the headset will last forever, especially at my current pace of velodrome miles.

While evidently King had all the business he wanted, they were expensive. The same $100 as today way back when!
