Head set stack height, as was mentioned by someone else, has a lot to do with the A-9's lack of popularity. Most bikes that had Campy NR or NR clone headsets have the steerer tubes cut off pretty short, and only a 34mm or so stack height headset will work. The Delta headset is about 40 mm, and I think the A-9 is about the same. My solution is the Ritchey Logic headsets, at around 33 mm. I believe I have 4 Ritchey head sets on various bikes and they've been good to me, even though they are black instead of Campy silver. If you don't want to pony up $90 plus for an old Campy headset, the only other option that seems at all available are certain Tange headsets. Anyone else have a suggestion for short stack height, currently available, affordable headsets?

You have hit the nail right on the head with this post! Why buy Campagnolo when Stronglight cost less, lasts longer, has the same classic good looks and comes from a manufacturer steeped in history? With regards to the Chris King headsets, the logic goes: Why buy Chris King when Stronglight costs less, is much more beautiful in a classical way and will last just as long? You don't even need to enter into the brand equity or mojo question.

PS: I still have more bikes with Magistroni headsets
