(Gosh, I didn't think Kenneth Denny was still on the list! The horror!)

My 1950 Italian Simplex catalog (which I believe is the first Italian Simplex catalog) shows the 1930s Champion Du Monde (yes, the French name is used in the Italian catalog) and has a steel plate engraving of a CdM derailleur with the French name engraved in the derailleur. I wasn't aware that there were some with the Italian engraving _made_ in the 1930s.

My guess would be that the Champion Du Monde derailleurs with the Italian engraving "Campione del Mondo" would be post WWII when the CdM would be sold as a cheaper derailleur in comparison with the newer (1950) Tour de France Simplex derailleur.

Ken, your thoughts?
