Subject: [CR]Replacing Campy brake lever attachment bolts...

A while ago, there was an exchange re finding a replacement bolt for the one that attaches the Campy lever to the strap that attaches to the handlebar. Dale Brown, our Fearless Leader, noted that a Mafac part would fit. It does!

Now, the good Professor Petrosky (?) of Duke has written several books with the theme, "the mother of invention is dissatisfaction." I looked at the Mafac part, and its business end is a cylinder, perpendicular to the bolt. The Campy part has a flat plate instead. And I noticed that the bolt is a common garden-variety 6 mm. Of which there were some big-headed Phillips types with very flat domed heads (from Ikea furniture?) in my parts box. A minute with the grinder and the big round Phillips head came to impersonate the Campy part. How's that for trivia? If anyone else has a Campy brake lever with a busted bolt, I have a couple of more of the Ikea bolts.
