Subject: [CR]value of Alan

Was visiting my brother yesterday and looked briefly at his Alan aluminums road bike. It is a bike he will never ride again, combination of lifestyle, living out in the country and the effects of having completely smashed his ankle in a motorcycle accident. So he is more than willing to sell this bike. I know that this list is not the place to find the dollar value of a particular bike. What I am asking is "Is the following bike a collectable" and secondly "Would this bike be a better candidate for converting to a triple than would my Gran Sport equiped Donisello". The bike is a glued and screwed aluminum 21 or 22 inch frame ( it was hanging on the wall about eight feet above). It has Stronglight crankset, think it is Huret derailleur, CLB brakes and I think Maillard hubs and no tires on the 700c sew up rims. The bike is original except for it has a Brooks saddle . Think he bought it in the early 80's. Know it was before 83 as he told me that when the Universaide games were in Edmonton, the French team rode bikes that looked identical to his bike (at appearance anyways). Bike was rode heavy for a couple of years and then has sat in either a house or a garage for the rest of its life and with a very little bit of work would look brand new. Sorry if this is not an acceptable posting but not really looking for a price (though it would not break my heart to find out) but more I am asking is this bike one that would be worth my while to take it from him to sell or convert to a triple?
