I think we are (collectively) a different kind of collector; the timeframe of
interest for this list may be more recent, but does include bikes that are
yet both rare and desireable (as well as affordable). This niche may or may
not later command the same willingness to spend that other niches do, but
right now I would rather spend $8100 for a '70s Confente than a bargain '30s
Dayton. I don't buy bicycles for investment, but rather to enjoy. If or
when the "big money" moves into this area of interest, I don't think most of
us will cash out, but rather continue to enjoy or "collections." We just
won't be able to enlarge those collections. Of course, this niche may never
attract that kind of attention, in which case we get to continue to "wank" in
our own little sandbox.
