My name is Doyle Syling and I live in the Alamogordo NM area. I certainly don't have any classic bicycle expertise to share but enjoy the old 10 speed bikes. I ride nearly everyday as hobby and work. ( In the summer I run the police bicycle patrol). I developed my interest in old bikes after having spent a lot of time shopping for my "perfect" bike. I realized then that my best cycling memories were on what was then "old" 10 speed bikes while in college. (early 1981-1982) Some of these might qualify for this list and others might get a few laughs.

So I started looking for old ten speeds here and there that caught my eye. No real collection to speak of. Just my "modern" bikes. I recently acquired a Motobecane Super Sprint. Definitely not high end but an older bike a friend of mine rode while stationed in Europe several years ago and brought back to set in his garage. The Super Champion wheels I recognized from previous bikes I had seen. The chrome fork ( fourreaux ?) is beautiful. The nice part was a few minor adjustments and flat repair and off I rode.

Only limited experience in bike mechanics. Some of the discussions are over my head. I'm not an expert in vintage bikes by any means, just a guy who goes to garage sales and thrift stores looking for that unusual bike that might catch my eye.

I probably fall in the "sentimental collector" group for the most part. I have read a few posts and enjoy the info. Don't have any advise to offer just maybe an occasional "newbie" question here or there.

Recently bit by the touring bug( did a little of that in college too) Now just trying to acquire the right bike and equipment to start on some training and mini tours.

Thank you for allowing me one the list.
