David, I'm no Eddy M. expert, I hope others can answer your questions. (I just went and looked at the auction page - $154?! Nice deal!)

I was just wondering why the seller thinks it is SLX. Is there a decal that says so? I would be skeptical of that, as I doubt SLX was even made in 66cm, so at least the seat tube is probably something else. And for a frame that large, SLX would be an odd choice for any of the tubes even if they come long enough - most builders would use something stronger and more rigid.

I gather you don't have the frame yet. Anyway, when you get it, you can look inside the BB shell opening and see inside the bottom ends of the tubes. I they are "rifled" (not really the right word but it seems to be commonly used here) then they are probably SLX or SPX - I would hope the latter on a frame this size (SPX is heavier). The rifling is really raised ribs on the inner surface of the tubes, can be kinda subtle and may be hard to see on the bottom cut edge of the tubes if there's any burr from mitering.

What size seatpost it takes may be indicative too, with 27.2 tending toward probably SL/SLX, 27.0 indicating more likely SP/SPX, although exceptions could go either way.

Let us know what you find out.
