These cups are sort of like my old boy scout cup, but not plastic. In fact they are usually nickle plated and have a cyclists impression or tandem couple pressed into the top cap. I even have an engraved silver plated one that was given as a weding gift.

They are fairly common and even though they all say patent 1898 or there abouts they may have been made through the 1930's; who knows out there?

These are very cool and predate bidons, every cyclist should have one.
