Hello Dale,

I apologize to you and other CR LIST members for being rather vague in telling why the Wolber Mixte B Super Champion rims were voted to be an unsafe and impractical rim. The size of rim I was referring to is 700c.

From a letter from Mr. Carl Gonzales <bikecg@worldnet.att.net> dated Sat. Mar 16, 2002 :

" Don't laugh, but I use Wolber Mixtes on my Peugoet PX10LE all-weather bike with Vitoria tubular cyclocross tires. Yes, they are legendary for supporting clinchers and sew-ups, but I'll bet the clinchers that will work hasn't (haven't) been made for at least a decade, I would think. The hook, or the bead is the issue. This rim will work with today's clinchers. I would presume they were popular in the seventies. Also, the area where the cement is applied is the turned in part of the rim. This certainly does not provide for enough surface area as conventional tubular rims do for applying enough cement. Like anything, use them with caution. "

I hope this help you, Dale and most all of you other CR LIST members, as well. If not, then I am open to any more comments from the CR LIST.

Regards, Kim Hetzel Yelm,WA
