I remain utterly confused by this series of posts. I am ignorant of significant changes in beads or hooks. Yes, I'm aware that foldable beads are now common, and that they were unavailable, to my knowledge, in the 70's, but 700c is 700c, isn't it (with the possible exception of Matrix aeros, which often seemed to be "700c, except slightly larger, have fun trying to mount a tire")? Hooked rims are hooked rims, aren't they ? I have rims from the 70's and 80's which mount contemporary tires just fine.

I'd like specific information on why these don't work. Did I miss it?

Thanks,

========================================================= Dan,

I stand to be corrected on the re-typing the letter from Mr. Gonzales. Forgive, Dan and Mr. Carl Gonzales.

It should read as follows: "The hook , or the bead is the issue. This rim will not work with today's clinchers. I would presume they were popular in the seventies. "

The key word here is "not" before work, which I excluded in the original text ! I apologize for excluding it.

Thank-you,
