Well yes and no Brandon - if the new headset's lower stack is thicker, you can remove material equal to that difference from the lower end of the head tube, and voila, you'll have the same geometry as before.

BTW, I would recommend either a Chris King headset in this case (can be used on a really short-cut fork due to its design), or reaming a couple mm off of both the top and bottom ends of the headtube if there is enough meat there (the Record / Super Record headset will have a bit more lower and upper stack - about 2.5mm each IIRC - I haven't looked it up in Sutherland's).
