Hello Mark,

I have not used The first Deore group. The following is outline of the advertisement of first Deore. The first Deore rear derailer has special feature for chain noise reduction. Shimano called it "Centeron Mechanism". The pantograph has a little play. So the pulley cage moves free to correct chain line. Therefore, Deore rear derailer is less noisy.

Suntour is the pioneer of "Slant Parallelogram" mechanism. Almost all today's rear derailers feature "Slant Parallelogram" mechanism. So Suntour is estimated, I think.
