It answers the very common question of what is and isn't classic. This is not rec.bikes or the iBOB list, this is a list with very specific but quite wide perimeters. This really is the last I have to say on the subject. . . .this time.

If you want the discussion to get higher than "what is classic?" you should ask questions that aren't snide and that actually bring something to the discussion to discuss. I will though answer all three of your questions. First there is lots of discussion of braking and pads on pages 189-212 of Whitt and Wilson's "Bicycling Science" http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/026273060X/qid=1030223773/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/002-5270901-0057612?s=books&n=507846

Second question, It wouldn't dissipate much heat but you are adding more material to the pad holder so there would be some heat energy absorbed by the chrome. Third, You could and they'd look sharp afterwards but your braking will go totally to hell. enjoy, Brandon"monkeyman"IVes Heading to the water in Santa Barbara, Calif. --
