Hi list members I read with interest the discussion about chrome and the lack of it on American frames.I must add that my experience in Australia as a metalworker ( 22 years ) and with bikes lends me to agree that it is not chrome itself that is the problem but that applying it to a bike frame is vastly different to applying it to a bumper bar. However ; as someone did mention there are other alternatives such as stainless steel and I was wondering if any of you talented frame builders would care to give a personnel opinion of such parts to a new builder. As Henry James makes them I would guess that at least some of you have tried them.Is there a downside to using stainless lugs or dropouts. They sure look great and if they avoid the problems of chrome why don't we see more frames built with them ?
