C-record retained the stamped shield logo of the Record arm. I know of failures of C-record along the top of the stamped logo. After maybe a year or producing stamped logo C record arms, Campy reprofiled the arm (thicker, less wide as viewed from the side) and went to an etched or screened logo. It is interesting that the no-flute arm came out around the time of the first C-record and went to the etched logo around the time C-record did. Maybe they were addressing a problem on one product by changing both (for convenience) but I think both arms were prone to fail at the logo. In fact, I think the C was more prone to fail at the logo FWIW.

If anyone has an uncracked set of C-record stamped logo 175 arms, I'd be interested in buying them.... for gentle riding and nostalgia. Of course, the are rare because they were revised after a short time and perhaps because many broke.

Is this because they are stupid, or incompetent? Or is it because of long term participation, and a "nothing ventured, nothing gained" attitude?

Classic content.... Like was said earlier, more miles on more cranks = more breakage. Are there more broken campagnolo cranks than one would like? Obviously yes, but it's not like Campangolo didn't do anything about it. (C-Record) How ironic it must be to many list members, if many of the changes Jan suggests, NR and SR would have been replaced by more modern parts earlier, which is an odd situation for a retro-phile to argue!!
