Brian, Not to defend the ignorant or dishonest, but I think many times the sellers of vintage bikes on ebay get educated by the potential buyers, who know one when they see one.

These sellers have not the means or desire to do the proper research, and will get "straightened out" by the ebay crowd and amend their ad, belatedly realizing accuracy will attract buyers better than hyperboly, not to mention avoiding negative feedback.

Of course some are just plain trying to pull the wool over our eyes. Sometimes hard to tell the difference, sometimes not.
