Yep, new derailer. The Valentino was the worst derailer Campagnolo ever made, never worked for beans. The old joke was that Tullio was mad at his son, and punished him by naming that crummy derailer after him. Even a Huret Allvit would be an upgrade!

If you were to put a new $20 Shimano Tourney on, you'd be flabbergasted by how much better it would shift.

The Grand Prix is a pretty decent frame, worth putting some decent equipment on.
