Perhaps a slightly biased analogy. That is, I think it unduly glamorizes Campy by making the analogy to a hyper-exotic F-1 car. I present as an alternative: Dura Ace = NSX. High tech (still) supercar that costs roughly 100-grand, been quite a while, is quite reliable, gets decent mileage (FWIW), easy to drive. Record 10 = F360. Substantially more money, newer, tinkery, thirsty, more demanding of the driver. Yes, slightly greater use of high tech materials. Both are cars to lust for, Ferrari just pushes impracticality that little bit further. Indeed, there is a market for each. Tom Dalton Bethlehem, PA Chuck Schmidt wrote:Tom Dalton wrote:

I think it is great! Something for everyone. Just like cars. Shimano is like very nice Japanese cars. And Campagnolo is like F1 Ferrari with the Ti and carbon.

The difference makes for easy choices for the public doesn't it?
